with Canadian Linen & Uniform Service...we have 20+ plants in Canada with just as many depots. We are owned by Ameripride Services which has 40+ plants in the US, head office in Minnesota. Some of you folks have probably seen the trucks around, green and white Grumman vans, delivering uniforms and linens to garages, hotels, etc. My particular plant processes 40 thousand pounds of linen per day and to do that we use over 60 thousand gallons of water per day. Don't be fooled by the Engineer part of my title, its not nearly as important as it sounds Rembrant |

| | | Re: What\'s your profession?? My title is something like "Material Handling Specialist". I work for Exabyte a computer tape drive manufacturer in Boulder, CO. Have done this type of work for nearly 20 yrs., 10+ yrs. here. I work in a Supervisory role now mostly keeping track of inventory, reporting to management, spend most time behind a desk. I still do physical warehouse work as needed; moving pallets, drive forklift, drive 2.5 ton truck, receiving, shipping etc..
It pays the bills, provides insurance. I will be making a job change soon within the company, something to do with tracking Customer orders, talking to customers, making sure products ship when customer wants them. This is kind of a forced change due to most of our manufacturing moving overseas. |
