The front seal of my transmission leaks when I try to pull a cart or any load.I have a 1996 Explorer One man told me it was the transmission getting to hot and put a cooler on it and helped some but still leaks if I go very far. When I call a transmission place to have a new seal, they tell me they have to replace alot of things??????maybe $1000.00
Thanks Paul
Sorry I cannot help ya, I could if it was a GM tranny, but not a Ford. Although if it was set up like a GM. You have to pull the tranny out, take the torque converter out, and replace the seal. I would replace the tranny dipstick tube seal, and rear output shaft seal while it I had it out too. On a GM that would be less then $20 in parts.
Are you towing in the right gear? I ask because I was once pulling a car trailer in OD, and the tranny overheated and spit ATF out. I didn't know then that I should have been using 3rd gear.
Your tranny might still be getting to hot because you're in overdrive.
