Thanks to offroad.com for allowing us to talk about this new race on the board.

Speed Mex, Jim Butler (me) are responsible for USA public information about this new race in Mexicali. We are very proud to help offroad grow and to offer racers a new venue to race. The organizers of the event are Mexicali businessmen who are confident that thousands of off road fanatics will want to see racing in their forum in the largest ampitheatre in the world, the Laguna Salada basin, west of Mexicali.

The organizers were inspired to do the race, because of the thousands of Mexicali and US fans who show up at every off road race in Mexicali and Baja California. They spend alot of money, drive for miles, put up with dust, dirt and the occasional problem to see racers fly by, very quickly, only to be left wanting more. The Desert Party event strives to meet the fans expectations and exceed them. With Music and a safe, enjoyable venue.

The course is up on the site AMADO 200.com. The start line is on the far east side of the Laguna Salada, with a Riverside race type start. Full speed for over half a mile until you get to the playa area of the salada, then north west to the run past the eastbound side of the toll road. Then south west to the entrance of the second arena seating areas, with a laughlin style jump and shortcourse. Then out to the far west side of the track at the top of the arroyo drainage, then a quick left turn through the sand dunes. Some quick turns through here, then onto the salada for the long speed section, easily over 100 MPH. Then a gradual left crossing the start line. Through the start line are seating areas and on the right after the long speed section after the start line are the hot pits right next to the fan areas on the north part of course. This is the Pavrotti section of the salada. Large open camping areas, kid entertainment areas and vendor areas food.drink are planned. The nightly entertainment makes this the largest festival ever planned in Baja California. Pavrotti brought 70,000+ people, the organizers are seeking many more. The event is designed for the Off Road Fanatic, stay the weekend dont leave because you could miss something.

Part of the genesis of the race by the Mexicali business community is that at the desert races fans only get a fleeting glimpse of the racers, then its all over. You go home. Not at the Desert Party. You get to see all the action, mega-screens many passes, even full speed passes. there are many fans who have never witnessed full-tilt lake-bed speed. they will now and alot of fans will be made here. Its a Desert Party in the truest sense of the phrase. Much like that of the great people of Mexicali, "The Home Of Off Road", they party into the wee hours of night races! During the last night race there, there were bonfires all over the desert floor celebrating the Off Road! Not just in one or two areas, all over, unreal, thousands of off road fanatics with their families in the middle of the desert night, with friends waiting for just some desert racers to pass by and cheer them on into the night. Imagine- when there are tens of thousands of offroaders from all over the west cheering on the best desert racers in the world battle for thousands of dollars in prize money, then when the sun goes down the music and offroad demos start. Speed contests, displays and everyone grooving to the scene. Music at night, Racing during the day in natures biggest ampitheatre, Laguna Salada, just like how hot roddin and off roadin started in 1910. Get out, go dezert and go fast!

We've had some questions regarding the race schedule today. PRIMM is Sept. 8-10, AMADO 200 is September 14-16, CORR in Chula Vista on Sept 23-24. The 14-16 was chosen by the Mexicali organizers because its a national holiday in Mexico, national independence day, like our Fourth of July. we are counting on alot of folks from all over northern baja showing up to the AMADO 200 because it is a national holiday weekend in Mexico. More public information is scheduled to be released this week. I am happy to answer any questions you may have and we intend to post permits and certificates of deposit (bolsa $$$) when appropriate. Jim
