<font color=purple>Check out the April, 2000 issue of Petersen's 4Wheel & Off-Road for coverage of my 1st G.U.M.B.O. race last year. John Cappa gives a brief, but very accurate article on the event - with the possible exception of his description of the payout. It certainly COULD have been great in the "Pit" classes, but was actually below average for my area. We're expecting a lot more participation this year, so it could be a true statement on July 4th.

right on tex! i was supposed to get a subscription to 4WOR for christmas but i haven't seen an issue yet, i need to call them. anyway that is great!![img]/wwwthreads_images/icons/cool.gif[/img]

<font color=purple>I guess the only real disappointment is that many of the trucks shown in the article are pretty ordinary, while most of the cooler stuff (like all the Super Stock trucks out of IL, some of the other Modifieds, the Pro Stocker from AR, the Scout from CO, etc.) wasn't shown. 'Course, maybe that'll help me bring more of the "daily driver" crowd to future events. Still, it is pretty funny that the guy who had the big double-facing shot (that burgundy truck #8) is a local who's never been seen before or since at any mud race in our area[img]/wwwthreads_images/icons/laugh.gif[/img]. I'd never seen that 18-year-old guy Chris Ludwig before, but have seen him again since then at races. Never saw Jodi Sontheimer before, but her husband is a semi-regular around here. All of the other vehicles shown were regulars from my area.</font color=purple>

I saw that article today. Read, "Gumbo Racing" and thought "isn't that TEX's organization? Pretty cool.

Tex, saw that article and showed it to Jeff (mudpony). both read it and thought, man that was fun!!!!!!! glad to see you made the print!
