Axle Triming

Does anybody know if you can cut a Unimog axle down to fit under a more convential vechicle? What I was wondering is if the drop axle option will still allow you to shorten the axle? I saw a pic one time (can't find it for the life of me now) of a Range Rover with Unimog axles. I remember the axles fit under the truck, so it occured to me that he had to cut them down. Does anybody know of a site that has a diagram of the inner workings of these axles? I'm not quite sure how its done. Thanks for any info.

There is absolutely no reason that you can't cut the axle down. Take it to an axle/driveshaft shop and it is an easy job and not too expensive. I am thinking about the same thing. Another fine reason is that they come with airlockers.
