The name has fascinated me since I have been on the baord..My man pointed out this awsome beast the other day that he said was one, and I couldnt believe you could take this thing offroading...Anyone got a picture???

GEEEZZUUSS!
Yup, that's the beast I saw, 'cept this one was just plain old military green. I can't believe it! Makes me re-think my dream of getting a 4x4 El Camino (and I thought that was pretty interesting; I have a pic...heh heh heh)...Maybe I should go for a Unimog! No, really I think that is a little bit too big for me...I never would have thought I would see that thing do any rock climbing, though.
Thanks for replying.

And the name is pronounced oo-nee-mok. Loosely translated it is short for Universal Motor Machine.

Never would have thought about that, either. Learn something new every day.
Coincidentally, I am in the market for a new (well, new to me) vehicle--in the San Diego Trader a while back I saw one of these suckers for about 10K. If I had the money and the space...

I've seen several of them in the Trade express a lil ways up the coast, usually a lil more $ though... like 12-15K ... they'd be sooo awesome to drive, I'm sure maintence would suck though... WWII German Technology.... YOWSA!!

Of course it's hard, that's the point!!! If i wanted easy, i'd drive on the freeway.

I think so, the Pick up body, with beards, 5pts, some mean flotation tires..... it was pretty sweet looking, course all of them are.
