I was showing my jeep club a sound in my engine, but they noticed a different sound that bothered them. When you rev the 225 engine up past 2000 rpm. there is a deep ratling sound towads the back of the engine, They said it sounded like a loose flywheel. Another friend of mine who is a marine mechanic said it was coming from the oil pan. Does anyone know what it may be. we don't have one of those stefascopes to listen to where it is coming from, but it is worring me. Can anybody identify this, or have any suggestions of what it may be will be greatly appreciated.

Maybe you can locate it by using a long screwdriver or something long and solid. Put it against the block, oil pan etc, then place your temple against the other end - the bone of your skull hears the vibrations. You can also use a hose, like a heater hose, to "pipe" the noise to you.
