Since you don't already have HEI, you still have the 225 Buick most likely. If that's the case, you will need an odd-fire HEI that comes from a '75, '76 or early '77 Buick 231. Mid year '77 and newer 231's were even-fire and shouldn't be used on an odd-fire engine. The first difference to tell the two apart would be the odd-fire HEI's cap looks like it's for eight cylinders with two empty spaces. The even-fire's cap has six evenly spaced towers on it. The second way is internally with the cap and rotor off. There is a series of pickup points inside that are unevenly spaced for the odd-fire and evenly spaced for the even-fire. |
