cut the old wires attach a string and pull it out, remove the new wires from the connector housing. attach the string to the first wire then layer the wires
behind each other (some have to be spaced further apart & try not to use to much tape) pull the new wires down & reinsert . thats all.

Thanks, so far. One more question that prevents me from being successful so far:
The switch harness seems to be trapped, or held by something down inside the column outer tube. When I look at the hole where the wires go in at the bottom of the column, there is a plate, or something besides the wires in the hole, holding the wiring harness tight.
Closer inspection shows that little plate isn't so little, it seems to go "up" the column inside. It's too large to come out the hole at the bottom and it's on the inside of the column tube. I tried pulling on it and bent it enough to see it goes up inside somewhere. It seems to be made of a light spring steel material.
Even if I pulled the spades out of the connector the harness would not move yet - until I get that plate out.
How?
Thanks, Rich

I just had a problem with turn signals not working. We traced power to flasher unit but not coming from switch. We were in the process of fabricating a puller for steering wheel, when we checked and found that the wire going from the flasher unit to the steering column was broken inside just as it entered column, so that sure saved us a lot of work,,make sure you all don't have same problem. Probing with test lite up the wire will tell you.
Good luck,,glad I didn't have to remove steering column. Still haven't gotten oil lite to work!!

Sorry Rich, I don't remember anything like you are describing and I just got home at 9 pm and did not have a chance to look at it.
