\'71 paint code

Does anybody have the correct paint code for '71 white? Preferably the cross-reference to a current supplier number. Thanks in advance!

Re: \'71 paint code

Some auto body places have this trick little machine that you can take your rig in, they point this deal at a a few spots on the rig and it prints out this little read out on what color the paint is on there and how to mix it. That will work if you have original white on there. I am not shure of a source for current suppliers, but with that little machine it can be made very easily.

I have the SM465! The SM is for Slow Mover, and the 465 is the wieght in pounds.

Re: \'71 paint code

There are several whites listed in my trusty parts book for the 71,,Do you have the paint number? 72s only had Champagne White listed.

I believe Glacier White was used on the Hurst.

Re: \'71 paint code

If Tim is right (and I have no doubts, Tim!) Glacier white in lacquer,,Ditzler # DDL8633. Dupont # (246)97998
enamel,,,,Ditzler # DQE 8633 Dupont # (93) 97998
Let me know if you want to try Champagne White or Plantation White.

Re: \'71 paint code

Well Linda, thanks for the vote of confidence, but I think I was wrong. Just got home to my library and according to a July '70 reprint from Four Wheeler, they say it's Champagne White. Looking at my two paint color charts, I can see a definate difference between the two. The Jeep color code is 432, Dulux code 7314D and Lucite code 7314L. Please forgive me, I am not worthy.

Re: \'71 paint code

Jim:

They look the same to me. Indian Ceramic shows from '62-'64. Indian Ceramic #2 shows '65-'67, (the one chart I have that has them on is for Jeep colors from '61-'67). Both are Jeep color # 332.

The chart is from Martin Senour Paints, (never heard of 'em).

Martin Senour Paint #'s for Indian Ceramic are 32H-7747 Acrylic and 90G-4103 Synthol.

Martin Senour Paint #'s for Indian Ceramic #2 are 32Y-7812 Acrylic and 90T-4257 Synthol.

A good paint shop should be able to cross to other brands, I would think.
