Default Rebuilding original-ish fender flares

My Jeepster has had the rear fender openings cut out to a round shape by a PO. So most of the flare is gone. I have been scratching my head how to bring them back to something that is similar to original in appearance but big enough for tire clearance. I see that another poster has done what I am trying to do using some custom bent sheet metal but I don't have access to a break. I am thinking about picking up a fender like this:

Shipshape Jeep-Style Steel Fender — 36in. Long | Trailer Fenders | Northern Tool + Equipment

and cutting the outer 2 or 3 inches off of it to graft onto the jeepster. Has anyone tried something like this?

Don't know of anyone doing anything like that except to flat fender the front and rear fenders.

Have you thought about just putting rubber/plastic fender flares like the CJ's and Wrangler's have to cover the hole or are you wanting it to look more stock. CJ8/scrambler, YJ, and Tj, rear flares are all close to the same shape as the stock Jeepster rear wheel well. Depending how big it is cut out will change which flare will fit the best.

If you search "fender flares" on this forum you will find lots of ideas and pictures of what fits. A few pictures were listed here of a couple flare options. http://forums.off-road.com/jeepster-...er-flares.html (bushwacker flares)

Thanks. Good tip. I will look at the OE flares on my wifes TJ and go from there.
