Several years ago, my brother-in-law came to visit to see the progress I had made on the '71 I was building for him. We drove it one evening to the "Cruise-In" they have once a week during the summer at the Portland International Raceway. There was an older guy eyeing-over Punkin pretty thoroughly and then started a conversation with us. Said he has Steve McQueen's Jeepster in his garage, been sitting there for years and was wondering how much it was worth. I told him I had no idea, gave him my card and said to give me a call so I could look it over to give him my thoughts on value. After we left, my brother-in-law, sister and I all commented on whether the guy had a full deck. He never did call me, so I guess I'll never know if McQueen really had a Jeepster that wound up in Portland.
