Default Two Things

First, The pinion bearing went out on my Dana 44. Do I need to disassemble the whole differential to replace it or can it be done from the front of the axel.

Second. Does anyone have a rear with 3.73s that they are not using and willing sell?

Thanks, down and running on the front axel.

Mike

I have a complete axle with 3:73 gears. This is the 2 piece tapered axle. I bought for my Jeepster, but pulled it back out after the wheel cylinder failed. It was quicker to put the old axle in then find the correct drum puller. $50 for the axle, includes brakes and drums. I am in Portland Oregon. I also have a matching Dana 27 front, never used it if interested.

are you sure it's the bearing?

Yea, it's a job to replace but I would expect other problems too. A whole axle swap is less work (if you get a good one). Not worth the work to get inside the axle and not re-gear it. (but a lot of $$$$)

Good luck
