Default 225 Radiator

I have had the problem of a hot running 225 engine and now that the daily temp is over 90 everyday I want to upgrade and looking for a little bit of advice. The engine dosent overheat but it will run just above 200 when driving even with a 160 thermostat.

Anyone know of a bolt on replacements that is high efficiency or triflow?

Has anyone gone to electric only fans?

I run only an electric fan and have for years. I would check your timing to make sure that is not the problem though.

When i still had the 225 i had rebuilt the carb and tuned it too lean. didnt have any problems till it was hot outside then she would over heat not just run warmer but it might help to check as well

Default Running Hot

My mechanic used to tell me that if you are running hot check the three L's

too Lean (mixture), too Late (timing) or too much Load. it is usually one of them.

Default Running hot

A few years back someone on this board was manufacturing radiator shrouds for the Jeepster. I put one on and was amazed by how much cooler it ran. I can't remember who it was but maybe some of the guys can remember. It was an easy bolt on and really worked.

I did not have a shroud. The fan didn’t sit directly in front of the radiator so I don’t think the shroud would work anyways. I installed a larger radiator and an electric fan. Temp is now rock solid at the thermostat temp.
