With soa and single leaf the axle has more leverage on the spring and will turn it into a pretzel or bad s curve. Acceleration and deceleration will badly contort the spring. Results are bad wheel hop, less control, and possibility of busting drive shaft ujoints. Lifting soa on a mono leaf will make for a scary ride. Please for safety do not operate for long like this.

huh wow - thanks for telling me, i figured if no one would answer it wouldn't be to big of a problem, which of the 2 would you suggest i keep and use? i won't be doing anything to crazy in it - just normalish off-roading, camping and things of that nature. i really appreciate your input, alot.

I agree with howdy, you need to get rid of the mono leaf as soon as possible. With it spring over axle you will get a lot of body roll in the corners and a lot of axle wrap. You do have several choices though: Find some stock multi leaf packs and keep it SOA, order some Alcan springs for SOA or SUA, or get some 4" lift SUA springs from Hell Creek suspension. Stock springs will work fine SOA, they are long enough to combat axle wrap.

You might want to consider welding some shock mounts to the bottom side of the axle tubes so you can get a little more travel. You do not get very much compression when the shock is mounted that high (unless you have A Lot of lift)

Also, I think your drive shaft was installed backward. I have never seen one with the slip joint at the axle, it is normally up by the t-case.

Good luck with your project!

So which do you think would be the best to keep? - i'll be using it for medium off roading and road usage. or do i really need to get another set up in the back?
