Default Bob Watson RIP

Dear jeepster family, it comes with a broken heart to have to deliver this to you. We lost Bob Watson yesterday in a auto accident.

Bob Watson (Bulldog Bob) you touched so many of us with your kindness, wisdom, ability and your warm heart, rest in peace my friend, you will be missed by everyone who ever had the honor to meet you.

Here is the message I was asked to post by the family to Bob's jeepster family

Dear Mr. Fletcher,
My father is Bob Watson, a member of your WSA Jeepster Club. He lived in Coos Bay, OR and organized a jeepster run in Sept. of 2006 per your website. His first love was my mother, Aurora Watson but his second was his jeepster commando, which he built from the ground up. I don't know if you ever got the chance to meet him, but today, he was killed in a horrible accident at Brown's Camp near Tillamook, Or. He was thrown out of his jeepster and it rolled over him, he was killed instantly. I know that he knew many of the jeepster club members and was involved in your club. He was killed at about 4pm, today (December 16th, 2007. I don't know if there is a way to let the members of your club know, but he loved to go rock crawling and jeeping with my mother. I was hoping there was a way to post this information and/or send it to the members who may have known him.
Thank You for your time,
Catherine Bice

As more information comes available, I'll pass it on to you.

-Don Fletcher

Last night, Dec 16th, around 9:15 an Oregon friend of ours called with the sad news that Bob was in a fatal Jeep accident. I called Bob’s wife Aurora to express our sadness and offer help. As soon as Aurora answered the phone I realized she had not heard about Bob.

To me, Bob was like a brother, a dad, a spiritual advisor, and best friend all rolled into one and his loss is heart breaking. My wife and I had plans to drive the Jeepster up to Bob’s in mid January and spend a few weeks wheeling, wrenching, and looking at property/housing around the Coos Bay Myrtle point area. Kathi and I had planned on moving up there in about two years.

Sleep in peace my friend, we shall meet up soon!

RIP, Bob.

I don't know what to say- I'm at a loss. His presence will be missed in the Jeepster community. He was a great guy, always supportive and helpful. I ws looking forward to finally be able to wheel with him next summer. My prayers will be with him and his family.

For those who hadn't met him, he was the most kindest, giving, respectable man. The gentle giant always had time for you or your jeep. He would stop whatever he was doing, drive a hundred miles to find a part for you, then help you fix your rig. I will miss him dearly. I wheeled with him many times, and he was always ready to have fun, and help you have fun.

I just got the call and my heart sank. Bob was a good friend, compassionate and generous, and a good man through and through.

Bob Watson...Husband, Father, Brother, Friend...Wheelin' at the right hand of God. Rest in peace, my friend.

Bob was a truly great guy, always willing to take time to help others. He guided many of us on several outstanding trail runs. He will be missed greatly, but will not be forgotten.
