I am thinking of letting the broken down 225 retire and go with a even fire carbureted 4.1 Liter motor (252 CI) that was used in some 80s model GM RWD cars--Caddies etc. I know that I saw a summary somwhere on the web that listed the years and models of GM cars that used this motor. Can someone direct me to it? It sure would help me scrounging the yards. Is anyone using this motor in their Jeepster and what should I look for in the yards? Thanks
Both Andy and I had 4.1L's. They are similiar to the Chevy 400 small block as they have siamezed cylinders, so a larger radiator will be required, (I prefer two row aluminum). Make sure you have a shroud around your fan or you won't draw enough air across the core to cool sufficiently. Here's a link to models that had the 4.1L Buick V-6:
Thanks Tim, that is the link what I was looking for. Where did you source your radiator? I though the 4.1 was just a 3.8 with a raised deck height for the longer stroke?
Radiator was purchased at a local 4x4 shop, then had mounting ears welded on. The brand name was Ron Davis, Ron Davis Custom Aluminum Radiator Page and was Chevy style.
The 4.1L shares the same stroke as the 3.8L, (3.4"), but the 3.8L's bore is 3.8", while the 4.1L is 3.965".
