I haven't logged on in a many months, but today I did and saw the posting for the dunes.

Count me in. I've only had my Jeepster out 2 times since last year. So if you guys can tolerate me another year, we'll be there.

The dune run event is coming up fast and I thought it best to remind all of you to come and join us. There still are a few sites left that the club reserved, and all one needs to do is contact the resort and mention the club and they will gladly help you out with reserving a camp site. The club put a $10.00 deposit on each site so please pay it back to the club once you are there.

Here in the phone number and address of the resort:

Osprey Point RV Resort
1505 N Lake Rd
Lakeside, OR 97449

1-541-759-2801

The resort is about 10 miles north of Coos Bay and is very easy to find.

Go here for more resort input.
oregon coast dunes rv park tenmile lakes lakeside oregon rv park

Runs start around 9:00 in the morning and go until we want to head to camp. We will meet at the resort around campsite H17

Tell your friends to join us!!!

Jim and friends.....

Well, I hate to be typing this...I ask you all to please be kind...

I won't be making the Dune run this year. I know, I have been planning on making it for a long time now, but a conspiracy of events have changed things. I am way behind on getting the Jeepster running...typical, seems even at this late stage in the game that any small change snowballs into many other things. I thought I was down to the fan electronics, bleeding the brakes, and seatbelts. But, no, I forgot that I still need to make a roll bar, the parking brake isn't hooked up, the soft top is still sitting in the box, and , worst of all, the D300 transfer case I rebuilt 2 years ago doesn't want to shift into 4WD HI without beating the crap out of the shifter. 2WD on the sand wouldn't be much fun. Adding to the "mess"- I strained my back last weekend, and even thinking about bending over to work hurts.

I Know... but the most important reason is this: As I mentioned before, that weekend is my wife's birthday weekend. She has been going through some real crap at work- and is about at her wit's end. She had dropped some hints about us not having a beach trip this year, and that she needed to just "Get Away" for a while. And, that a "Jeepster Weekend" really wasn't her idea of a relaxing weekend. Soooo...being married for 27 years, I knew what I needed to do. I told her I'd take her to Gold Beach for a nice romantic weekend get-away, just the two of us- instead of the Jeepster event. You've never seen a woman more happy. I knew I'd made the right choice.

So, it's going to kill me knowing that 20 minutes up the coast, you guys are going to be having an awesome time. But, I know I've got my priorities right. So have fun at the , don't too much (or too little), up the dunes, and take lots of pictures. As for me, there's always next year.

My idea of camping is a two room suite at the Hilton. Is there a Hotel/Motel close by??

The resort has some nice furnished cabins they rent out. Call to see if there's any still available. Here's a pic:

Thanks for the links, Tim, but for me, it's still a no-go.

There's a little more background, on the "wife" end. We usually take a weekend trip somewhere every month or so. You need to get away when there's two families in the same house, even if the other one is your daughter's. Since getting the 53 Ford, we have been to the Portland Rod and Custom Show, Kool April Nites cruise in Redding for our anniversary, the Medford Cruise In after that, River City Rod Run in Spokane for the 4th of July, and I just spent a good week getting ready for the local Flashback Cruise, which was a weekend ago. Not to mention the local Cruise In every Saturday night. So, she's just plain "Automotive Event" overloaded. I promise I will plan more wisely next year!

You guys do believe I own a Jeepster, don't you? (Just because it's never been seen in public )

I am going to try and make the beach cleanup later in September, if scheduling allows.

I've got my fingers crossed that I'll be there, but the Beater is still not back together. Have a few more days to assemble, but lots to do.
