Yea guess I really should have put the source down.. I so rarely get a chance to contribute to the BB..

qty 2 ea peep mirrors $33.90 + $6.50 S/h=$40.40 total..
Elizabeth..
VERY nice finish.. heavy chrome plated.. they articulate nicely.. the mounting bracket provided would have you use the provided set screws and clamp onto the drip channel... but you cant get in the channel to get to the screws.. I went thru the windscreen frame with a long screw.. much sturdier mounting .. and if I make it right.. there was both US and metric threads involved..
Position is critical so the vent windows are not obstructed from opening..
I can measure up and down and take GREAT pix if anyone needs it..

I think you guys just answered a question of mine. But I'll ask anyway.
If my jeepster sits for around two or three days, I have to prime the carb to start it. Do you think that is a leaky diaphram in the fuel pump too?

Geee.. even in the heat of So Ca.. I would think the float bowl would still have not evaporated the fuel out so much that it would not start.. ?? got any leaks round the carb??
B4 the next start attempt open the throttle fully while lookin down the barrel.. should see a nice squirt...or soak the accelerator pump diaphram in oil to swell it up temporarily..... help me out here I am over my head

Some one talked abou this last winter. I seem to remember that it had to with slow leaks from the lead plugs. Can't remember how to fix it. Not much help other than to give you something else to look at.

Jeepster Dudes,
NAPA has a fuel pump made by Carter. Checker has one made by Master. Does any one know about the relative quality of these fuel pumps?
Thanks,
G

I'm pretty sure if I look down the carb I will see fuel. If I pump the pedal Alot I do smell it. I will do as you suggest though and let you know. I will also look for leaks around the carb.
Thanks

Some of the 2G's have a little flapper that closes the bowl vent - check to make sure it's touching OK. Bend the linkage till it is.
The lead plugs - clean and scratch that portion, then use JB weld to seal them. JB's even good for fixing a crack in the casting.
Fuel already in the bowl cannot drain back out through the fuel line or filter. So it's either leaking or evaporating.
The accelerator pumps on 2G's are famous for failing - especially if you've lowered the float lever for off roading.
If the pump cup is leather and not ripped, it can be brought back to life by soaking it in oil. Newer rubber ones there's only one way - replace it.
If the cup is bad, you may think the bowl is empty. Simply pop off the carb top to see if it really is empty.
If you lower the float for off road use, you need to drill a small hole below the cut in the casting so fuel can get in the pump well. Be careful not to drill into where the cup rides, drill just above it. 1/8" is fine.
Older fuel pumps had a check valve, newer ones don't. That's why sometimes fuel on the tank side can drain all the way back to the tank.
But - the fuel in the bowl should make it start OK. Once it starts running, the fuel gets sucked up fast enough.
