Yes but with possible issues. If the filler hoses are in the same locations on both tanks then you should be okay. If not then you'll have to get or make the correct one for the later model tank. As far as the tank itself, it should be a bolt in application.

If you can get a filler hose from a BN that's the way to go, otherwise you'll have to customize the one you have like RQ said. Also the tank frame mounts are in a different location for the 72 so you'll have to reposition those on your 71. And there's no return line on the BN tank although you should be able to use one of the vent lines. That's assuming you have a return line.

Yes it should work.And 72 and 73's do have return lines.Both my 72 and 73 do.And you could always buy a new tank from Aero and have a cool 23 gallons!!!

So would return lines be specific to Califonia emissions equipped vehicles? Neither of mine have them. 72 is a 258 three speed, 73 is 304 auto.

That is a possibility.Calif is goofy as heck.My 72 is a 304 and the 73 is an I6.Both HAD return lines.
