Default Newbie

Hey all, just wanted to say what a great site this is, with lots of info. Just got my '69 Commando this weekend, looking for ideas and found this site. A pic (Hope this works)

Hope to get it on the road (trails) soon, needs a rear end and a little tinkering.

Jim

Welcome, Jim. Looks like you have a sound platform to start with. The flanged 44 rear is worth keeping. I'm running 36 mudders on my '71 w/Detroit and have had no problem.
Anything we can do to help, we're here.

Looks like a nice start. Mine had the spare on the roof like that when I got it with a nice ring of rust right underneath it. Watch out for that if you are going to keep that setup.

Unfortunately, it has the D30 rear, and has been sitting for 3-4 yrs. Carb needs a little work, accel. pump is shot, so that and the rear end are the first things on the "list"
Been using the search and finding tidbits here and there, will ask when I can't find any more.

Chris,
Thanks, I had planned on moving it, once I build a rear bumper/tire carrier. That will have to wait until it's drivable though. Where is your spare mounted now?

Welcome Jim!

Good rig to fix up and if you can, come on down to the NWChapter's Oregon sand dune event the first weekend of August. I understand that your rig might not be up to par but you can learn a great deal from other rigs by simply showing up. If we can help you out just holler.

Yup, it looks a lot better way to start than some I've seen, mine included.

Welcome!
