Default SOA with the stock rear springs

Has anybody used the stock rear springs for a SOA?
I have been toying with the idea of using them for both front and rear. this would require a little frame stretch up front but that may also help with fitting my V8.

I have a SOA with stock rear springs. There are alot of us running them on here.
As for stock rears on the front, I guess it could work. As far as helping to fit the V8, IIRC it isn't the springs or axle location that is the problem with a V8 conversion, it is lack of room betwenn the radiator and the front of the engine.

Ditto, to what Ugly says
1. no room for a V-8 without a lot of re-construction, most of the guys find the 231 Buick V-6 provides more than enough power.
2. your springs are 35 years old (unless replaced), I did a SOA with my orginal rears but it wouldn't sit level, so I bought new stock height springs.
3. your front springs are narrow and not a good canidate for SOA (IMHO). I'm sure someone will chime in an tell you to outboard your front springs with Waggie springs. I know it's been a popular way to get handling and height.

Welcome to the Sickness, Good luck

Well I do have a V6 in it now, but as far as I can tell it has a headgasket leak which appears to have begun in 1982.
This has led to a seized engine.I have a 5.2 sitting in my garage.the frame extension is to accomodate the longer springs, the enine apears to possibly interfere with the front crossmember under the radiator mount.

I just finished putting a set of Downey 3" Toy mini-truck rear leafs under the front of the Moss (Thank's to a tip from Lee ) Even though it'll take a few more days to get everything buttoned up, sitting on the jackstands looks great! A LOT more pliable, about 1.5"-2.5" of lift and it appears modifying the OEM shackles is gonna work just fine.

The center pins appear to be like 3/4" further forward, but the RE perches used allowed me to move the axle aft by 1". Net effect is 1/4" shorter wheelbase...
