I've got a set of axles from a 72 Commando (D30/D44) that we could probably deal on, if you're interested. They've already been set up SOA. Besides that, I'm not too far away.

These are Dana 300's, they look similar to the D20. You will notice the one on the left has an adapter with the "texas" bolt pattern on it. If you're t-case does NOT have an adapter, but has the texas pattern it is a D20. If it has an adapter with the texas pattern on it, and looks like these pictures, it is likely a D300.
The D300 is a little bit bigger, a little bit heavier and a bunch stronger. |

I'll pass on a nugget rec'd when I asked Toad that same question 5 years ago...
"The TH400 was the heaviest auto offered by any of the GM lines... used behind BigBlock Chevy, crewcab, 1ton 4x4s... so, A 1ton tranny, in a 1/4ton Jeep... what do you think your going to do that would hurt it?"
On the D20...the original Bigfoot used a D20 (OK, a Ford D20). Other than the "gotta have lower lowrange" crowd and those running ton housings & 44"s, it should hold up just fine... the crappy adapter make crumble, but the TC is pretty heavy-duty...

Only made one year, 1980
Kinda hard to find, took me over three years to find one for less than $500, but it saved me the cost of the adapter.
And it's lower geared than the Dana 20 (without a 3:1 kit).

SOA = Spring over axle moving the springs from under the axles to above to gain lift and articualation.
Camber helps with tracking down the road. Very important with a lifted Jeep.
And Caver...
...what is the opposite of above me.

UGO, you are just pissed cuz you did all that work on your Mando, spent hours and hours wrenching on it, then painting it...and it came out ugly...Seems a great waste of time and effort on your part...
