Default hmmm.. steering column/shaft issues

So early on in my Commando resto I pulled the steering wheel to rewire the column. Unfortunately, the steering shaft is now extremely jumpy, as it is not meeting with the upper bearing. I believe i'm missing this cone-shape piece:

I think my parts manual calls it a "steering gear jacket tube upper bearing (cone shape)".

I think it works like an inner race for the column.

Any idea where to find this piece? If i removed it, it was not on purpose...

I'll try to remember to check my manuals in the morning to see if they're the same as 71 down. I just pulled apart two junk columns that are headed for the scrapward. I think I should have at least one good one if they're the same.

All Jeepster and Commandos are the same so yes I do have one. Shoot me a PM with your address and I'll get one into the mail on Monday.

This was an old post of mine, but recently my dad pulled the steering wheel and lost the same part again.

Can anyone help me out? Would a CJ or Wagoneer or something have a similar piece? Should I make my own? Anyone got a spare?

So I found the sleeve, it had been put on the shaft while the wheel was off and simply slid down the column to the bottom....
