Those of you that have a Bikini top; what kind of speeds do you drive at, and how does the top hold up. I trailered mine a few weeks ago, and the top ballooned up, I thought it might get away, so I took it off til I got where I was going, and then reinstalled it. I've got one on my YJ...at anything over about 35 mph it flaps, pops, bangs and is gennerally way noisy...I tend to only use it in town, and pull it off when getting out on the highway.
ive run 60-70 mph on interstate with mine and have no problems. just noisey from the popping and slapping. mine is a homebrew and i was surprised myself. when i trailer mine, i always put it down though, no need to chance it if im not in the jeepster.

Re: Bikini top at speed?
I run mine all the time, trails, highways, etc. I recently drove from central AZ to NE Colorado with it. No problems whatsoever. I haven't had it off the jeep in about 3 years.
I run mine on a regular basis during the summer when the hardtop comes off. Have never had a problem....in town or on the highway....although I've never had my jeepster over 65 mph with either top. And when I am on the highway, seems my bikini top makes LESS noise then my hardtop.
I run mine all over too:
The center strap is snugged down onto a (tv)cable anchor screwed into the face of the step-up. I've also worked on getting the outside corners on the windshield side to lie down better.
My top is for a 82? CJ so its a little wide for my windshield frame. Its a Bestop. It also has a snap on each side of the front. I put a snap on the door to snap it down, and its covers the top of the side windows. From there it goes over the roll bar, and straps are anchored about 2ft back from the roll bar, in one of the holes for the hardtop bolts. It hasn't ripped anywhere but I just wondered what kind of stress it can take before it does.
Thanks for your input.
