Default Dauntless V6 225 odd fire, Distributor

I am considering changing my distributor from a points system to and electronic system.

Any ideas as to; pro's & cons of this idea?

I'm looking for better reliability. I'm tired of burnt points and being stuck out in the pasture with my kids.

Welcome to the madness! There is a temendous amount of information available on this topic that you can find through the seach engine. I've read the new search engine is not as good as the prior one, but I read lots and decided to convert to HEI. It really "lit" the old 225 up along with better reliability.
There is also a company that makes a drop in conversion from points to pointless, but you won't get the hot spark you get from the HEI. Also, they only make the kit for the Delco distributor, so if you have a Prestolite distributor like I did that won't be an option.
Do the seach and print out the directions on the HEI conversion. You'll find everything you need through all the discussion already covered on this topic.
Good luck and welcome.

Welcome! Another option is to find a late model 231 Buick engine with HEI already on it, and drop in the whole engine.
Where in Texas are you? I'm 30 minutes south of DFW.

That would need to be an odd fire Buick, wouldn't it? The odd fire and even fire caps are different.

No, I was saying that replacing the whole engine might be an option, and a 231 w/ HEI would be a bolt-in replacement with a less tired crank and cam. Just a thought.
