Default Toad!

Toad,
I cannot send you email with bellsouth for some reason. I have a friend who needs a crank and connecting rods for a 304 from the same motor preferably.
Please send me an email and maybe I will be able to reply. at r_queen.bellsouth.net
(Bellsouth sucks!)

Yeah Dave, I have but I shouldn't have to with a Bellsouth address that I've been using for three years! We're both Bellsouth, where's the freaking problem?
A lot of people trash AOL but I didn't have this many problems with them at all. I'll be switching back most likely, only broadband style!

GRQster - Bellsouth provides the broadband to AOL in your area. AOL is only a reseller of broadband in most areas. After recently looking into all my options, I got Bellsouth DSL and have been very pleased.

If you are going to go Broadband, GO BROADBAND.
DSL, AOL, Bellsouth, JOI, NETZERO, they are DIAL UPS.
And DSL is just a local tower dial up. That is a good idea cause it cuts back on saturation of too many users. BUT it is still dial up, and if you don't have a local tower you can't get it. Plus the towers take up valuable land that we wheel on.

GO with a cable modem, And if you guys are thinking about it I can answer whatever questions you might have.

Advantages
Always on; firewall from you/modem/and cable company/

No wait for dial tone
incoming calls ain't a problem
FASTER, & CHEAPER,

Just think of the copper wire in a phone line (single wire) pretty small huh, then look a the copper part of a CATV wire, A lot bigger. Now tell me that you can push the same amount of information without interuption through the Small phone line as the CATV wire..........Don't think so.

RQ You have Time Warner Road Runner up there in your parts, I will send you a cable modem/ the same one we sell Time Warner, Call them and tell them you want just the service and see how you like it. I will also send a 32 bit 10/100 PCI/MAC card and drivers. I gaurantee you will like it better. PLUS you have local office you can complain to instead of a phone call.

Damn I sound like I am working

I bailed on Earthlink, finally, and have been using Off-Road.com's ISP since it started last year. I have not had any problems so far. I get the same transfer rate at less than half the price!! 10.00 bucks a month compared to 21.95 for Earthlink who purchased Mindspring who purchased Netcom, my original, is much better. I use my computer at work to do any heavy duty downloading anyway. Supposedly, some money for the service goes to help keep land open for our use (pays lawyers) so I'm all for that.

I have Cable Modem and Would KILL for DSL. I am sick of the WHIMPY "UPLOAD" speeds !

Be aware that with Cable modem you are "sharing" the connection with all your other computer neighbors ! This is a case were you DEFINITELY need a profalatic solution !

I would rather have the "always ON" "always MINE" connection of the DSL - Ultimately you are transmitting the data accross phone wires somewhere anyway.

RQ - Are you still using your ISP's Email program ? Get a third Party one and see if your problems go away. Same with the browsers - use the ISP to connect then use third party software !

Default BellSouth ADSL

Mike,

I think you misunderstood the product I was reccomending. BellSouth does have a dial up product but they also have a broadband product, Bellsouth ADSL, sometimes referred to as Fast Access is not a dial up. Like a cable modem, it is always on. Yes it does run over 2 telephone wires but those wires are dedicated to you alone. You can still talk on your phone while your on the puter. That "larger" coax is shared by you and all your neighbors. If very few of your neighbors buy the product then the transmission rates are very comparable to BellSouth's ADSL but, as the saturation rate becomes higher, the cable modem will slow down. Definately both products are superior to dial up.

Tim

Yeah I knew I work for Broadband Services ; I was just trying to push the cable side. Business is slow and I owe Toad a lot of money.
