I just wish we had an option besides dial up available out here. Like someone else let on, I do the heavy duty downloads at work over T-1 and our network.
Havn't really checked it out 'cause I've got cable, but some of the DSS companies like Dish Network and the like are now offering two way satellite service, previously it was one direction (download) and the upload was dial up. Might want to check it out if you're really hard up.
Duane,
I did change to Outlook Express for email but am still using Bellsouth main page. I haven't tried to change browsers. I guess I'm just spoiled because AOL is real user friendly. At least to me....
Here is something cool for those of you on cell phones. The new SPRINT vision plan gives you 230k transfer rate through your cell phone with FREE unlimited wireless web. All you need is a compatable phone and a $20 cord to plug into your laptop/desktop It is much faster than a dialup but not nearly as fast as cable modem I must admit. That being said, the price is right. Dave
I am on cable modem, adelphia, if you have access you will never regret it. You are always waiting on everyone else...just like Mike said. Sure, it is a little more expensive, but I would give up s_x a few more times a week than cable. By the way, a stupid question that I know you will know right off the top of your head...I am investing in a timing lite for the first time in 30 years...on the old 225 V6 banger is the number one cyl. the first on the right as you look from the front???? I got a Cable Modem last april and love it, i previously had Earthlink which never had a problem in 5 + years ( i got ion the internet in 95 when web pages were all still grey) although EL had a problem with me staying dialed in more than 23 hrs a day. Fort thoose of us who would love to be runnign out own QT streaming serverr, email server (never have to change an email addy again, worse than moving) cable sux cause the block that stuff ....... but is is fast and 99 % there ........... it has only droped off line a couple times and that was after 2 am when i should have been sleeping anyhow ............. i also like to do the online gaming thing ( Half Life ) and there is just not enough outbound to run my own gaming server either ...... so that part sux as well

Bellsouth still sucks!
I'll be changing to AOL Broadband as soon as possible.
I'm having to unplug my DSL modem and shut down my computer, then once it's back up, I have to reset my connection before ever logging on. These "fixes" are listed in their FAQ's!
It is taking me longer to use DSL from Bellsouth than my old dial up connection!
Anyone who I have ever sent emails to or wants to send me your address, please send me another at RQs68Jpstr@aol.com so that I can save your addy. I lost many of my addresses due to a problem with my computer a while back.
My AOL account is still active and it will keep all addresses when I upgrade to Broadband.
Thanks,
Sounds like you have a line problem, possibly outside or inside of your home. Unless AOL has installed cables along the streets in your town, they will wholesale the same line from BellSouth then retail it back to you. If the problem is on the line, it will remain regardless of the company who sends the bill. Wear BellSouth repair out until the line is working to your satisfaction. If your dissatisfied with the other parts of the BellSouth service, then switching companies will get you a different group of people to work with. AOL broadband is almost 100% a retailer of the delivery portion of the home DSL product. Your local telephone company is the wholesaler to your local telephone company's sales division, AOL, and a multitude of other marketing entities.
