Very good day working on the Bullnose!!!! Well since I am getting a new soft top this week, i am have to get on the ball and get the commando drivable. I also sent out to get my paperwork to get a title for it. so hopefully the stars and planets are aligned. I got one more patch panel welded in on the back driver corner right above the side light. It isn the straightest or best weld, but a little body work it will be nice looking. Also took out the driver seat and got the rest of the crappy astroturf the PO installed. It is amazing how nice the tub can look if you sweep out all the crap. I also installed one part of the passenger floorboard. I am getting the welding thing down. I was doing a great jon putting the floor in. Amazing how good of a weld you can get when you don't have thinned out rusty metal to weld to. I used 18 gauge sheetmetal along with some unistrut to act as suppoert, so the fllor is going to e a bit stronger than previously. I cut out the old floor and overlapped the the old metal that i left as a lip. Also just layed the floor right over top of the side supports. It was a clean install and stronger, and heck it isn't going to be a beauty queen.
After i swept and inspected the floors, i dont have that big of a problem. My main problem is the usual roting of the seams at the rear wheel wells. I dont want to remove all the metal since i have alot to keep, but the rot at the seems is the next phase. What would you suggest my plan of attack to be to get the seams cleand up and re-attached? I am thinking about puting some angle iron and tack wleding it to the wheel wells and then seal is up with the 3M body dealer, after i paint and primer everything with rust preventative. Does this sound kosher? What have you guys done with tese rotted areas?
