Re: Fozzy Locker vs. Just Plain Welded?
Just weld it solid, but fill in the teeth of the gears first, then weld the spiders together. I have had a somewhat mixed experience with the fozzy locker. If you do not weld up the teeth on both sides the locker will tend to make one wheel grab, then the other one, then the other one, just transferring from side to side sort of like allt he metal in there is flexing. This was on a friends XJ with a Dana 60 rear. Mine has the gears welded on both sides and does not do that, but I do not think that it really takes down any of the driveline stress of a spool. It is also weaker in theory, the teeth can chip because they are taking all the stress, where if you weld them together the whole unit takes all the stress. No regrets, but no real advantages either.
