XM radio is cool!!

Okay, after looking at the windshield glass mount I decided against it. It sticks up pretty high an would be prone to snapping off if you go under a low branch. I spoke with an install guy at Good Guys (the one that sold me the original one) and he suggested useing the cowl, not the hood unless you insulate the hood really well from engine heat. The one I have has about 5-6 inches of flexible housing before it becomes 2 micro coaxial cables. This distance is about 2/3 of the way up the cowl from the hood. I washed the area really well and used TR-3 to de-oxidize it (now I have a clean spot, I'll have to do the whole thing now) Then peel off the backing and stick the antenna right to the cowl. I drilled a hole in the rain channel to feel the wires right above the main harness hole in the firewall. I need to add some por-15 to the hole to prevent rust (thanks Walter for the suggestion).
The wiring of the XM unit itself is really basic. Antenna in, power, ground, and one wire to the head unit/reciever/CD player. Then, tune the reciever to XM channel 1 to test. Perfect reception. And I do mean perfect. It helps that I have high end speakers, but still. NO noise at ALL. Still need to activate the subscription and road test, but I think the antenna was a snap.
