Here's a pic of a properly installed odd-fire HEI in a 225.

This is the stock fuel line that comes up the right side frame rail. It was designed to come up the back right side of the engine, over the intake manifold, down to the fuel pump, then back up to the carb. This one had an electric pump installed and went directly to the carb. It will be re-done so the electric is removed, fuel line run up left frame rail to mechanical pump, then up to carb.

Tim - Why are you going to go back to the mechanical pump? |

Because when they head south, they do so gradually. Electrics give up the ghost right now with little to no warning. Also, I wouldn't give a red cent for the cheapie electric pumps, which is what was on the rig.

True, instant failure. I've got one of the cheapies on mine, and another under the seat, just in case.
The thing I don't like about mechanical pumps is sometimes they leak into the crankcase.
And - ya gotta crank it to get fuel pressure.

Okay, since there's still some confusion, (I'm constantly confused), here's a pic of a properly installed odd-fire HEI from the front. Note that the vacuum advance can and the #3 cylinder terminal are facing pretty-much forward.

Inside the cap again. Note there are three different lengths for the terminal contacts, (or tangs, as I like to call them). #'s 1 & 2 are short, 3 & 6 are long and 4 & 5 are mid sized. It's imperative to have these in the right order for proper firing.
