YJ front lock

1988 YJ vacuum front lock troubles.
I want to just lock it up cheaply,no posi-lock etc.
put it in 4wd, unhook and plug hoses? will it stay locked?
washers behind shifter fork?
engage hose straight to intake vacuum?
Your thoughts?

How did I get sand THERE!

It's been discussed here many times. Do this search on Google and you'll get a lot of them:

YJ front axle vacuum. site:forums.off-road.com

EVERYTHING's easy for the guy who doesn't have to do it.
