Now that my 2-story addition is almost done....I'm starting to get back into my CJ....

And it just so happens that the filler neck tube is leaking....it's old (like me)....and cracking. Not a bad leak....but when I fill up (about once a month), I smell gas. So yesterday the boys and I had a look. Sure enough....wet spot on the filler tube.

My old 'go to' place, Krage Motorsports, is gone. Owner died...shut down.

So...who is the go to place now? I prefer the mom/pop places....

I found one link...Morris 4x4 Center. As a last resort, there is always JC Whitney and Quadratrak...

Make a patch of copper sheet, form it over the hole and sweat solder it in place. The filler is galvanized and takes solder very well. Wire brush everything clean, use acid-core solder and flux. I fixed a hole in the gas tank that way years ago and it's still holding. You can save money and time, and show the boys that you can fix things instead of replacing them.
