Question Thumb Throttle

Anyone have any luck with these? I am looking at either a Rubicon Express or Terra Flex model. Any preferences or feedback?

$10 worth of bits from any bike shop and some *light* fab will work just as good...

Exactly!!

Not to mention the RE one will be made out of materials that boost low end torque as well.

(Putting my fireman Fred cap on)

Make sure it does not bind, you keep the cable lubed (WD40 is ok) and IT IS NOT CRUISE CONTROL!

(Fireman Fred cap off)

Real easy at a bike shop, just tell them what you want and bring the Jeep.

I think something better than WD40 would be in order. Lock-Eze would be my choice, but the bike shop guys can give you a good recommendation. Then maybe you can get a sticker that goes with the lube. That'll be good for a few HP.

I wouldn't wheel a stick shift without one;mine came from one of the jeep parts suppliers; It's nothing more than a 10 speed bike shifter, marked up 400%

I have about 5 bucks in mine and I love it. Great, useful and cheap add on for your jeep. You will use it more than you think. Stickers? We don't need no stinken stickers!

Thanks for the backup guys!

I bought 2 mid-range (read: not "pro" grade) shifters (NO detent) that came with 6' sections of cable for like $12. To insure I had enough sheathing to do both mine & my brothers, I got 15' of high-end teflon lined sheathing (+ ferrels) & 2 very long lengths of cable (for a "tandem") for an additional $12...

My brother just did his install this week & used 1 of the 6' cables (which he tested thoroughly yesterday at URE ). Since I was only going to install the hand throttle on mine for OBA use (automagic) and that purpose appears to be negated by the AC input on the TBI ECM... the rest of the parts will sit in a toolbox for spares... still $15 less than a kit!

BTW, you could always just just write "Ripoff Express" on your junk with a Sharpie for the "performance" gain!
