I grew up a 'Puddle Jumping' country kid in a bend of the river, so we ate about everything but skunk locally.
I went to a coon barbque this Sunday if that tells you anything...
Bone fish and eels were probably my least favorite...
And I really like Squirrel and Rabbit brains/tongues, but most people freak out when they see the heads fried on the plate with the rest of the rodent.

Might explain why highschool girlfriends didn't last too long after they had dinner with my grandparents now that I look back...

In the military, I saw the Arctic circle for extreme cold weather training, Panama for Jungle training, and Korea as a duty station.
That means everything from house pets to local 'Delicacies'...

I drew the line in central America at the fermented eggs.
They bury eggs and wait for them to rot, and the birds already have feathers...
The shells get soft like thin leather, you wack the top off, squeeze the bird out in your mouth...
I found that to be the worst.

Monkey looks like a skinned baby, but if you can get past that, it's pretty good, kind of sweet meat.

The native people in south/central America eat a lot of things I don't care for in stews and soups...
Slugs, leeches, all kinds of bugs, Dung of some animals.
Once you get over the IDEAS you have against such things, it's still not very good, mostly stewed 'Mush' and sinew meat...

In Korea and the Philippines they eat a lot of dog meat.
I ate Kagogi in Korea for about a month before I asked what the meat was, I assumed Veal, I was wrong...
Came home and looked at old 'Rex' in a whole different way!

The rotted skunk cabbage they call Kimchi was my all time worst experience! That stuff would drive a maggot off a gut wagon in July!
Even the 'Stink Fish' they have didn't top the smell of that stuff! And they ate it EVERYWHERE!
Even served it in the military mess halls!

I like game meat,
The best meal I ever had was an Elk back strap roast!
Wonderful stuff, and just cooked perfectly!
Most 'White Men' cook stuff WAY TOO LONG,
Spanish too!

Now you all have made me hungry!!!
Like I'm not fat enough already!

All of the above.....that duck egg is called a Balute (or something like that).

I have been to Korea, Thailand, Israel, Spain and Florida....If I can eat the local food in those places....I can eat anything.....except boiled okra....I can't even look at that stuff....

BTW....I LOVE Kimchi....that stuff is great...

And I'm pretty fond of okra - steamed with butter is best, but battered and deep-fried isn't bad either.

I've eaten most of the other thing mentioned except for the rotten eggs.

Ive also eaten alot of the following:

Armadillo (just like a baby pig) just don't bust a gut killing it or cleaning it. We always caught them by hand.

Javelina(Collared Peccary) very good eating as long as it is a sow, a board smells so bad you don't even want to get close to one.

Emu not much to them almost all dark meat.

Sweet bread(thymus, throat sweet bread) is great just cant find it where I live now as is Trepas(beef intestines) and Tripe(beef stomach) fired, cooked in a disc or grilled.

Not really all that exotic but different.

Thats why a lot of MRE's come with it. Thank goodness I like hot stuff.

(or maybe thats where it came from....I have learned to eat almost anything with some sort of hot sauce on it)

I don't really remember eating anything too crazy. But from grass to "if it it don't eat you...eat it" I've had.
I'd have to guess that nettles stew was pretty nuts. My neighbor used to make it as a kid. But she also made dandelion wine I swore was whiskey. BTW she's still alive and will turn 100 this year.

Yes, they do. A few years ago one of my sons decorated a birthday present with one, so I chowed down on it, just to see everyone's reaction. They have almost no taste, but do crunch like a very, very thin potato chip.

I ate an old world porcupine that attacked us. Never seen one like it before, it was huge. It tasted like a very greasy chicken, it was good though.

Some of these critters sound pretty darn good

Stink heads are popular here, I just haven't gotten "experience" one yet.

We shot a porcupine during the caribou hunt, not sure who brought it home and ate it, I'm guessing it was in the 30-50 pound range
