Default Garage Update: It is finished!

Got the garage signed off a couple of weeks ago... and now I can do anything I want...Like
  • built a 4 ton pellet holder for the two pellet stoves (with a winch that lowers/raises the pellets)The stove is behind the white lumber with storage for the generators, sprayers, snow-blower and grille all underneath the pellet pallet. Here I'm testing it with a battery.
  • built a tire rack that also has a winch to raise and lower the tires. Those tires on the rack are 3 sets of studded tires that I switch out twice a year).
  • Built the compressor into the workbench. A hose runs around the wall to the maintenance bay. The compressor bay is insulated so you can hold a conversation while it is running.
  • This week I poured a 1200sqft concrete parking area/driveway in 9 sections with a ramp.
I really hated the clay... now I don't have to worry about sinking where I park the cars and it's easy to plow the snow off in the winter. Now If I can just get that Montero out of the garage so the Jeep can be put in and worked on. Yep, life is good!

That looks great, Larry. Sure didn't take you long to fill it up. Better start thinking about where you're going to build the storage hed.

Funny you should ask that. You're correct, the garage has filled up very fast, too fast!

Most of the clutter is due to multiple projects going on a the same time while trying to keep resource use maxed out and waste to a minimum. As example the white lumber you see under the Pellets is the old front porch railing removed when I built the front deck this summer. It's going to be recycled into a wooden Caravan engine holder. The engine will be rebuilt and put on a shelf, like the two Jeep transmissions I've got waiting for install or rebuild. Right now the engine's sitting up by the shed in the back of the Ranger. I'm sure the neighbors would love to get their view back by me removing the engine, the shed, the Jeep and the Ranger from their otherwise wonderful view.

Once I get that Montero out of the Garage, the place will be cleaned up and better organized. Then The Jeep may come in for another overhaul. Besides, I need to make room for the Ranger and plow before winter and snow sets in.

I've been toying with the idea of building a 10X12 wood shed for the garden tractor hoses, etc.. I had two 10X9 steel sheds. One was destroyed when I moved it out from it's place where the garage now sits. The other is in place at the top of my hill with more storage that goes in the garage. They've both taken a beating over the last 7 years from the weather and I don't feel they're fit for much more than scrap. I can't believe that I still have so much just plain ol' junk in that one shed. I need to really focus on reasons to keep the stuff or throw it away; I know the minute I throw it away that the next minute I'll need it. It's an axiom of life.
