Default 1997 tj sport ingintion

I have noticed over the last few months that when I put the key in the ignition and try to turn it over, the ignition in the column is a little sticky. It is sometimes hard to get the key out as well. I think it is just worn it. My question is how hard it is to replace? Do I have to get a new key made for it? I am pretty mechanically inclined but I don't want to start a job that will be out of my hands. I believe with a little help and advice from anyone on this forum who may have done it before, I can learn how to do it. Thanks for the help.

What LEVE said. I REALLY like a product called Lock-Eze. It's powered graphite in a liquid carrier that evaporates completely. It comes in an aerosol or a plastic squirt bottle. The carrier will flush out oil residue and the dust and goo that it holds. You're then left with a nice graphite film that works wonders for old cranky locks, and a lot of other things too.
