Default Saginaw steering box replacement

Folks,

I did the rebuild on my steering box - still leaks. I'm done - time to bring in a new/rebuilt one. I started to look around and I found this - is this over-kill?

Jeeperz Creeperz: 262352 - AGR Performance Super Box 2

thanks guys,

-John

Great box but I'm WAYYYYYYYY to "cheap" for that.

My two cents says (& what I run) are to find a good box from a 73 to 77 GM "A" body (malibu/cutlass/monte/regal) that is a 4 bolt mount. Darn close to a drop in. Only thing you will have to do from there is to change the fitting in the back of your P/S pump to a flange from and O-ring. (you can get it out of the same car and screws right in the back of the pump)

And while you're at it.........get a pump off a chevy one ton with hydroboost brakes. (73-91) The extra pressure makes bigger tires a one finger turn on the wheel.

At least thats what I did.

Without knowing the other details of your Jeep; Tire size, steering setup, front lockers, ect. it is impossible to say if an box is over kill or undersized. Assuming your jeep is stock or has only slightly larger tires (33's or under) I would just get a stock or Chevy "76" box at less then half the price, as has already been advised. Remember that your stock box is likely 25+ years old and took this long to develop problems, will you still own this rig in another 25 probably not. Even if you do the fancy box would need to last more then twice that long to make economic sense.

I should also point out that ARG products have very mixed reviews. Some have had good luck but others seem to have I had a lot of problems. I have not used any of there products or directly know anyone who has so I do not know how truthful these reviews are. I can say that from the looking at power steering pumps, that I have done there is a lot of half truths in the world of high force/high volume steering products.
