Some people just have NO respect for the flag.

20 years ago I would have thought that was the coolest! But I've since learned a little bit about our flag and why there are strict rules concerning it's presentation.
On a side note, a former employee of our department came back to visit this weekend. I got to tip a few with him and another great friend and co-worker last night. Both of these fine men were wounded in their most recent deployments to Iraq. One received a sniper round to the leg and the other was struck in the shoulder by shrapnel from a IED. Both have fully recovered and are still working. One leaves (for Iraq/Afganistan) again in a couple of months. Being able to spend some time with them and tell old cops stories was a great way to kick of the 4th of July weekend. Thank God for our veterans and those who continue to serve our great country!
Happy 4th everyone.

Uggh Taz, you just make me sick, no self-discipline.
Trina, did you find that or make it?
Anyway, happy 4th of July to all:
Those who deny freedom to others deserve it not for themselves.
Abraham Lincoln
You have to love a nation that celebrates its independence every July 4, not with a parade of guns, tanks, and soldiers who file by the White House in a show of strength and muscle, but with family picnics where kids throw Frisbees, the potato salad gets iffy, and the flies die from happiness. You may think you have overeaten, but it is patriotism.
Erma Bombeck
May the sun in his course visit no land more free, more happy, more lovely, than this our own country!
Daniel Webster
America is much more than a geographical fact. It is a political and moral fact - the first community in which men set out in principle to institutionalize freedom, responsible government, and human equality.
Adlai Stevenson
You cannot strengthen the weak by weakening the strong.
Abraham Lincoln

At the risk of being a hypocrite;
Were I to slap you at the dinner table for farting, my etiquette would be no better than yours.

You are aware there is a flag code, are you not?
From section 175
(b) The flag should not be draped over the hood, top, sides, or back of a vehicle or of a railroad train or a boat. When the flag is displayed on a motorcar, the staff shall be fixed firmly to the chassis or clamped to the right fender.
From section 176
(a) The flag should never be displayed with the union down, except as a signal of dire distress in instances of extreme danger to life or property.
And that doesn’t EVEN get into cutting a hole in it for that blower.
Now, I guess the only “OPINION” is whether this applies to a flag made of paint the same as it would to one of cloth, paper or plastic.
The flag code is US law but is seldom enforced so it’s pretty much voluntary compliance.

My question is, did you just fart?

Raduckal, my comment was not directed at you at all. Sorry if you took offense.

Well I don't have an issue with someone painting a flag on something... it's a painting... not a flag... i would only consider something that can be flown as a flag...
Just a person showing his pride in his country...
