There is no reason to answer fools - they always will be fools, no matter what, and proud of it.

The guy just wanted to get his back-up lights working, you fools didn't understand that. You wanted to show all of us - if anyone's left here - just how idiotic you can be.
You wanted to make things so complicated even you fools didn't understand it. Go back and look at your own statements here - contradictions of yourselves.

As they say a little bit of knowledge can be dangerous. Thanks for demonstrating how little you know.

Unfortunately the two of you have driven most everyone to other boards. If you don't believe it - go look at other boards, they are laughing at both of you.

I'm regular contributor to several of the 'Other Boards' that have traffic, and I'm Moderator at a few places also...

And yes, I know this board is a joke several places....

But since I haven't been here for quite a while, and since my name DOES NOT come up as the 'Problem' over here,
I'm not the one that gets 'Blamed'...

The ones that mostly get 'Blamed' are the 'Regulars' here that don't want anything to do with new guys are actual Jeep discussions....

That's why so many of the other boards have STRICT 'Tech Only' rules!
They also do a booming business with lots of contributors and lots of new arrivals, along with the usual cast of 'Regulars' that like to hang out and help out when they can...

Mostly no post padding, and if you are 'Abusive', calling other members 'Fools', you can expect some time to think about it all by yourself.

You are correct about John Strenk, H8Mondy, SnowTow, ect. leaving here,
But we still have these same discussions where they all went, and they don't have a problem with me...

So have a look in the mirror before you cast the next dispersion, insult, or whatever...

If you are 'Happy' here, then by all means STAY HERE.
----------------------------

As for 'Back Up Lights'...

That issue was solved in about the first 3 or 4 posts.

If the later discussions baffled you, then I don't know what to say, I tried to explain it to you,
And I just don't know any other way to explain electrical theory and practice.

Maybe someone else is a better teacher and can get the point across better than me.

The switch has been replaced. No go. Have checked connectors, even took the ones to the the rear brake lights apart and cleaned them. What else is there to consider?

Question, If the four wheel drive indicator circuit is a direct short to gorund/common (when hooked up it blew the 20 amp fuse it was connected to), would this cause the backup lights not to light when the T176 is put into reverse?

Sounds like there has been some creative wiring going on.

What color are the wires going to the back-up switch and the 4wd indicator switch? What is printed below the fuse that is blowing?

You need to get a 12V test light to check the circuits. Put your meter away for now. Ground one wire from your test light and touch the other end to the wires going to the B/U and 4WD switches.

Your test light should come on bright when you touch it to one of the wires. That should be the feed to the B/U light switch.

Your test light should come on dim when connected to another wire. That would be the 4wd indicator light.

On the last wire, your test light should not come on at all. That would be the wire to the B/U lights.

It sounds like the hot feed to the B/U light switch is connected to the 4WD indicator switch.

If you follow the loom from the transmission, there should be a 4 wire connector where it connects into the main loom. One position will be unused on yours. Make sure the wires are the same color on both sides of the connector.

"""""I'm regular contributor to several of the 'Other Boards' that have traffic, and I'm Moderator at a few places also..."""""

I seriously doubt that. You were banned from here as Team Rush, changed your name to Junk Yard Genius, then got banned again.

And that was shortly after you were banned from POR.

Those bannings expired, then you resurfaced here.

If you really are moderator somewhere, you'd be bragging about it constantly. WHERE ARE YOU MODERATOR?

Just look at this thread - the guy needed help - you go off on a tangent about high voltage leakage - totally irrelevant.

Taz went the other way - he talked about minute resistance being the trouble.

Neither of you had any sort of grasp on what to do - and it's such a simple problem.

There are lots of people in this world just like both of you - fools - many get elected, that's why this country is in such big trouble now.

At least Taz admitted he rode in a Jeep once. You've never put up a picture of yours, not under any name.

Are you sure you got the correct switch (NC vs. NO) The T176 reverse switch works opposite from my ford T18 and my T5. With the detent ball out the T176 switch is closed (lights on) and when it is pushed in the switch opens to turn off the lights.

That, of course, Is FICTITIOUS...

I changed from "TeamRush" because my Domain Name, TeamRush.com got hijacked.

So I changed the web site name to 'Junk Yard Genius',
And at that time, and for that reason,
I changed the USER NAME HERE, to Junk Yard Genius.

The reason I was banned here was I took a stand on religion when the site was being overrun with 'Believers'...

Now the 'True Believer' with the moderator button is gone,
I'm back.

Wrong again, I'm still on POR. I just don't go there much.
If you give me your POR log on name, I'll be glad to log on long enough to send you a private message from my POR account.

Wrong AGAIN!
Actually, the 'Ban' was lifted when the religion Nazi took a powder, and I was ASKED to come back over.

Why, it's the internet and ANYONE can have a board for a few bucks on software and server space...

Being an 'Internet Expert' is about as prestigious as being a retired janitor.

WHERE ARE YOU MODERATOR?
Company sites like AirHeads & RideTech,
Survival sites, like HardCore Survival,
A couple of sustainable living sites,
One alternative energy site...
Mostly just hobby sites, and a couple of business sites like this one...

Why do you think I don't get ruffled when people get wound up?
I've seen/heard it all before ON THE INTERNET!
I don't care anymore, means nothing to me...

Quote:

Nope, I gave the 'OPINION' that I agreed with Jim_Lou and sounded like the switch was 'Dead'...

Then I explained that even at vehicle voltage, you would both encounter resistance at 'Closed',
And conductivity at 'OPEN' with a run of the mill Multi-Meter...

And I explained WHY you might get those readings in automotive switches.
No mention at all about 'High Voltage'.

Completely USEFUL information if you are working on something and you have a Digital Multimeter...
Just explaining the readings you WILL find if you actually take the time to TEST...

Taz went the other way - he talked about minute resistance being the trouble.
I have no idea what taz posted, he's on 'Ignore' here.
There are small amounts of resistance in ANY conductor,
And small amounts of continuity in EVERY Insulator...

That's why they call it ELECTRICAL POTENTIAL instead of ELECTRICAL FACT...

Actually,
the problem was solved WITHOUT YOU in the first 3 or 4 posts...

Found out the switch wasn't working, recommended replacment.

Issue OVER,
Discussion begins,
And you got lost, then got mad!

Here is another shot of my J-20 Jeep trucks before movement to the 'Jeep Pasture'...

Jim_Lou has seen the Chevy truck in the alley behind the red J-20, I delivered an AMC 20 FSJ differential to him in it.

I don't have pictures of the THM-400 Autos that are rebuilt and ready to install, but if you insist on being rude about things, I can go out and take some...

I do this stuff every day (Engineering everything from wiring harnesses to suspension components to designing safety cages...) so giving me a hard time about what I know and do won't get you ANYTHING but blue in the face and a headache... Because I don't care...

As many of these conversations as you have gotten into and been proven wrong time after time,
I would think you would take a much lighter approach so you have a way out when you get proven wrong again...

You can give it a rest too, until we get his B/U lights fixed. After that, maybe you can explain why somebody who claims;

never thought to put a jumper across the B/U switch connector and actually check to see if the lights would come on. Maybe we wouldn’t be 27 replies later and still not have his lights fixed. By the time I got here, it was too late, he’d already ordered the switch.
