I'm running the standard "Adblock" for Firefox... leaves a nice little "Block" button above most ads.
Once you click "Block", it will ask to confirm URL... I usually remove everything between the domain & * (example http:\\somestoopidadvertisingsite.com/remove/all this/junk/*) to make sure it blocks EVERYTHING from that domain since the paths regularly change in an effort to continue thwarting these blockers and pester the crap out of users.

| |  No More Automatic Audio
We have set it now so video/audio will not auto-launch here. I hate it as much as you all, trust me. I thought the new components they designed looked cool, but without consulting the editors that use it, no one asked if we wanted sound blasting automatically. The answer is NO. Especially here where you - and I - are apt to cruise around multiple pages. Restarting that same thing repeatedly.
We don't try to screw you all on purpose - trust me. We actually spend many hours and headaches trying NOT to.
Thanks Jim and Leve for giving the guys some options.

The vid is not playing for me tonight, BUT the page is not fully loading either. Maybe some block? Hope they fixed it or are working on it. And if nothing else glad to see a reply from some "upper crust".

Get Mozilla Firefox, and a little program called NoScript. NoScript stops all Scripts from loading unless you give them permission and makes surfing faster and way more enjoyable.
Get NoScript and you will wonder how you ever lived without it.

Well I'm not sure I like being "crust" of any kind, but there ya go.
And hey moderators - shoot me a note directly if something appears to be messed up here - Especially something new. It may be something I haven't seen yet, or it may be something we DON'T want changed - and then you guys can share all your ways around it. If the outcry is loud enough, I send that in to people even more crusty than me, and hopefully have some leverage to leave it the heck alone.  |
