Default disk break swap?

I have a 05 TJ with a D44 rear with drums. I know that the rear disk was an option, but whats involved with swaping them. Just buy factory rotors, and callipers e-brake and make a backing plate? or is it far more complicated thatn that.
Thanks

Did you 'break' the rear 'brakes'?

Truth is, except for cool factor, there is not much advantage to having rear disks....

As for the swap....I believe a lot depends on what year the D44 came from....chances are it is not exactly a stright swap....but there are kits out there that basically has everything you need.

I did the Grand Cherokee disc brake swap on my 01 TJ with Dana 44. My biggest problem was finding a junkyard who would sell me just the brakes. They all wanted to sell the whole axle. It went smoothly and works well. However, Teraflex's disc brake conversion features all of the same parts and ran about $400 at the time. It may have been money well spent, considering the time I put into cleaning up the junkyard pieces.

Here is the Teraflex link:

I couldn't agree more.
I have swapped to disks and i will never do it again. Adjust your drums and they work great.

Well I appreciate the help, as for the teraflex, I thought that they only swap the D35 to disk.
As for the cool factor...Im not in it for the coolness. Im in it for the fact that I HATE DRUMS!!!! I cannot change drum brakes. I can change disk.
I did swap disks into a CJ using a kit and loved them.
But I digress...thanks for the help

Nope. Product description states "Fits all Jeep® factory rear axles from 1991 through 2006, including the Dana 35 c-clip, Dana 44 and Chrysler 8.25."

Thanks again...
Also, when you are in the river (sand and water) the sand gets into your drums and destroys them. Where as the disk rinses clean
