Passing this question on for an old friend...

Driving down the road, the headlights quit. Later on, they came back on. Owner recollects a "known issue", but doesn't recall where it was seen.

Anyone?

Do the headlight connect through the same connection as the guages and wipers? If so there is a connection that gets wet and needs to be sealed up.

I am starting to have this problem with intermitant windshield wiper problem and think it is that connection. I have never had to mess with it, but I have heard of folks taking it apart cleaning it and dielectric greasing the heck out of it..

The headlights are fed via a cb.....if the current goes too high, CB opens and then resets automatically....

'Usually', when it takes a while for the CB to automatically reset, it 'usually' means the CB is going bad.

I'm with Jeep Dawg on this one...... I'm a used to dealing with a little older vehicle, but it's usually the circuit breaker in the light switch that causes/prevents an issue from occuring. it's over heating and kicking off to prevent a meltdown of the electrical system. Once it cools down, everything goes back to normal.

Replace the light switch and all should be well again.

Or he could just wait till winter, the switch will have a harder time overheating.

I agree because it happened to me.
I would have posted earlier, but mine was in a 66 Ford Galaxie. LOL
