Default Tire pressures

This is more of my ride smoothin question. What do you run your tires at for street use? This will be on a 1998 TJ with 32" tires. I found out the one I'm looking at has 45# and may be part of the rough ride. I don't run that much in my Tundra.

Woa!! 45psi? That's quite a bit. I have 35 12.50s and run 24-25psi on the street. A very simple way to set your on the road tire pressure is to simply get them to where most of the tread makes contact with a flat roadway surface. You can keep watch closely or even easier, rub some soft chalk across the entire tread of the tire, drive a bit, and inspect. Change psi appropriately until you find a good mix of contact patch, road manners and comfort.

Just keep in mind that running the tire below the recommended pressure will make the sidewalls flex more with a side load. Don't try to make it corner like a Vette.

FYI many local Jeepers run high teens to 20psi on the street regularly. You should notice a huge difference going from 45 to 25.

Thanks! That seems more like it. Just wanted to confirm it with the experienced bunch.
