| | Drug Abuse
The other day, someone at a store in our town read that a methamphetamine lab had been found in an old farmhouse in the adjoining county and he asked me a rhetorical question, ''Why didn't we have a drug problem when you and I were growing up?''
I replied: I had a drug problem when I was young:
I was drug to church on Sunday morning. I was drug to church for weddings and funerals.
I was drug to family reunions and community socials no matter the weather.
I was drug by my ears when I was disrespectful to adults.
I was also drug to the woodshed when I disobeyed my parents, told a lie, brought home a bad report card, did not speak with respect, spoke ill of the teacher or the preacher, or if I didn't put forth my best
effort in everything that was asked of me.
I was drug to the kitchen sink to have my mouth washed out with soap if I uttered a profane four-letter word.
I was drug out to pull weeds in mom's garden and flower beds and cockleburs out of dad's fields.
I was drug to the homes of family, friends, and neighbors to help out some poor soul who had no one to mow the yard, repair the clothesline, or chop some firewood; and, if my mother had ever known that I took a single dime as a tip for this kindness, she would have drug me back to the woodshed.
Those drugs are still in my veins; and they affect my behavior in everything I do, say, and think. They are stronger than cocaine, crack, or heroin; and, if today's children had this kind of drug problem, America would be a better place.

It took a lot of rehab, but I finally kicked that habit, but not before subjecting my kids to it.
I drug them them into some of the most god awful places in my old CJ3. I drug my wife out 4wd'ing on the day before she went into labor with our first.
As far as the real drugs I take 100mg of non a tol daily.

When it gets hectic around here I take one or two Dammitol. It really reduces the stress.

Last Saturday my son call's me from Oreilly's and says dad you will never geuss what just happened. One of his co-workers had made a deal with some guys to let a shipment of marijuana come through the store so nobody would catch it. Well they were wrong, The shipment came in and the guy was not there to intercept it and the new manager said he wouldn't except it unless he new what was in it. Now Im geussing this was some kind of independent delivery guy driving a black truck with a shell on it kinda like the movie the transporter.... He told the manager that's fine with me, it's addressed to your store. The manager opened one of the boxes and and saw what it was and called the drug task force and they arrested the employee and two other guys. They got over three hundred pounds of marijuana in this little bust, gonna have some grouchy people in town . Just thought I would share this with you guys and gals.....

That was good thinking on the manager's part!
A lot of profits are going up in smoke.

| Yah and all the cop's are standing down wind
I have allways said that the cops in these small town's are crooks... When my son called me, he told me it was four hundred pounds that they counted. When the news ran the stroy they said it was three hundred pounds.... ..... The day my stepdad became a cop is the day that I knew for sure that they are crooked |

While I can't agree with the crooked cops statement, Good posting.
We were never really drug,,,,, but we deffinately got a good case of the abuse (at least by todays standards) when I was a kid,,, It is all good the only ill effects I got from it was my looks,,,,, Wait,,,,,, guess it was pretty bad....
Most drug problems I have seen had less to do with the drug and more to do with the person...

Yup.. Raised by a single mom working two plus jobs to stay off of welfare. Unheard of these days. I could have easily chosen the wrong path, but she stuck to her guns and didn't back off or give up on me. My older sister is a school teacher married to an executive and I'm on the right side of the law, married to an attorney. (Can you say Job Security?)
Thanks mom.

I had received that passage in an email, I didn't have it all that bad as a child really. I grew up in eastern Ky, my family is in the lumber business... I did have to work.
I just thought it was a good message and wanted to share it with my jeep friends.
