I just put the clutch in about 1 1/2 months ago. Its the shifter that starts shaking if you take off fast. A normal take off doesn't make it shake at all and the clutch feels fine. Its shakes the same on the fast take of as it does when driving through a rough field.

Make sure the bell housing is tight. First time I did a clutch....after a few months I had the same issue...when I got around to looking at it, I was missing half my bolts and all on one side...the whole bell housing was flopping around....not a good thing.

Have you gone to larger tires with the stock gears?

Yes...I went to 35's with the stock gears. I figured why fix it if its not broke. My plan was to wait til I break and axle or something and then put the ford 8.8 in the rear.

THAT sir is your main problem with the shaking.

I had 32's and it was pretty bad. Basically, it's like trying to start off in 2nd or 3rd gear all the time.

With 35's and a manual tranny you need at 'least' 4.10 gears with 4.56 being the better choice. Expect to wear out your clutch real quick.

I ran the old clutch for about 3-4,000 miles with the 35's and stock gears. The clutch wasn't in bad shape, it was the clip on the throw out bearing that wore down and broke. I figured I better go ahead and replace the whole thing since it was apart.

There was a few small "hot" spots on the flywheel and we sanded ourselves.

It never seemed like it had much problem with the 35's. I can tell a loss of power but it never shook or anything before. This new clutch only have about 2,000 miles on it and the old had 160,000.

Default Update....

LOL....yeah I told my wife I wanted to sell it and get something else and she told me when I buy her a new house I can get a new one, but not til then.

Update....I crawled under the back of the jeep to oil the springs and anything I thought was squeaking with some silicone spray and looked up and found that the rear track bar on the frame side had lost hte nut and the bolt was almost completely out. I had to rethread the bolt but it took alot of the squeaking out of it. I still have a little in the front and it sounds like its coming from the dash but I'll try to get to the monday....depending how much time I get between working in tobacco and boating.

I'll keep giving updates til i give up or figure it out.

Thanks again....

Default Update.....

Well, I finally made it to the shop so I could use the air tools and found plent of things wrong. I found 4 of the 8 ubolts were not completely tight. The rear track bar that had a bolt loose ended up with 2 loose and the front track bar had 1 loose on it. I tightened up the shackle bolts too after I figured out that some of the squeaking qas from the poly bushings against the metal.

Things it fixed: most of the noise, the pulling from left to right when decelerating and accelerating (good call jimlou), I also don't here the knocking when I turn the wheel anymore.

Things I still need to figure out: the gear shifter bouncing sometimes when taking off. I got under it and when I started to push on the transfer case the whole jeep, tranny, motor and frame moved just as much. I didn't check to see if all the bolts on the bell housing where tight though. I still have a noise coming from my dash on the passenger side when I hit some bumps.
