Jeff, hopefully I'd find someone with land that would let me put it there....I know a few people that have some, so I'll have to ask around when i know if/when/where i'm going.....so that would eliminate any possible paper-work errors like this.

I think this is the best option rather than a storage unit....seems cheaper and safer than a unit.

If the container is mine, and not rented, I could weld extra locking devices onto it, to make it a little more secure....since I'm not sure how tough they are to begin with.

I cannot attest to breaking into one, but we have demoed a few and they were tougher than semi trailers. Wall thickness was such that we couldnt take it apart with a mtl20. So we had to use an abrasive saw to go around it and weaken it to the point we could break it in two. I think they are pretty tough.

The steel boxes and called connex boxes. We use them on construction sites and they are pretty tough. I've read on some that are made of 14 guage steel but that was just one brand. I'm not for sure on the price, but another option is to see where you will live when you get to school before you decide. If you live off campus and don't mind driving 5-10 minutes to school you should be able to find a place with a garage for rent.
