Why cheap it out trusting a used or unknown one with something as important as brakes?

Get a parts house rebuilt one, pay the core charge - from a real parts house, not a discount trash place.
They can also order the rod if they don't have it in stock already.

Thanks RRich I was thinking that also . I was on my way to give a gutter estimate yesterday when low and behold I see 2 yj's in a yard that look like parts hulks. An 87 & 88 High miles not really wrecked from hard wheeling just rusty. The liquid calcium penn-dot puts on the roads in the winter is really bad here.The 88 didn't seem that bad looking under the hood, it just went out of inspection. The guy said I could have the booster, mc , & Proportioning valve for 40.00. I said sold. So I'll try it as is, If it doesn't work I have a good core.Thanks guys!

Junk yard stuff is "catch as catch can." But - even the bad ones can be useful too.
You can use them to look at at the yard to see if it'll work.
Sometimes they are useful to experiment to make brackets, test fit, etc. before investing in a good one.
And if you can get it cheap enough, it can be turned in as a core.

Finished with the yj swap. So far so good. It stops really good. I took it for a test blast and the Front brakes were grabbing a little. I turned the rod in 2 turns and that took care of it.It feels wierd to actually be able to stop right. Thanks guys
