Default TBI Fuel pump

I am wiring my fuel pump directly to a 12v source and not run it through the ECM?

By doing this, the pump will always send the same amount of fuel through the injectors. Will the injectors still pulse?

Yes, the injectors will still pulse. The ECM does not monitor if the fuel pump is running, or not. All it does is provide two ways for the pump to be powered.

Yes, this will still work but you open yourself up to some possible safety issues.

When under control of the ECM (via the fuel pump relay), the fuel pump will run under the following conditions:
1. For 2 seconds when you first turn on the ign (prims the fuel pressure line)
2. Crank or run signal.

One of the potential issues of not going through the ECM is that if the engine stalls, you could keep pumping fuel when you don't want it to....or if a fuel line breaks it could keep spewing fuel all over the place....not a good thing in a roll over...

JOOC, why do you want to bypass the ECM?

I was just having some wiring issues. I did have it hooked up to the ECM and it did cycle for two seconds. Then I had some guys come over to "HELP" and ended up cutting wires in the harness and jacked it up!!

So now I think I have it all fixed. So I just wired it to the Ignition.
I will try the ECM tonight, If it cycles like it is suposed to I will leave it there.

Thanks for the info.
